What is XBO ?

The XBO feature is a unique durable silicone based coating finish applied on SK75 or SK78 rope.

The XBO fibres improve fatigue lifetime in terms of cyclic bending over sheaves.
The SK75 coated with XBO offers a 5 times longer bending lifetime compared to regular SK75.

Why choose Dynamica XBO?

If your operation involves sheaves or drums and it requires a rope with the absolut best bending qualities and lowest internal friction.

The Dynamica XBO is made with HMPE/Dyneema® XBO fibre known for outmatching steel wire in operations where (cyclic) bending is present and where internal friction needs to be kept at a minimum.

What is the breaking strength & weight of Dynamica XBO?

Dynamica XBO ropes are as strong as steel wire rope while being up to 10 times lighter. By shifting from steel to Dynamica XBO, you gain:

  • Easier rigging

  • Decrease in handling speed

  • Less resources required

  • Fewer riggers and less equipment needed

  • Overall cost-savings

What is the elongation of Dynamica XBO?

Dynamica XBO ropes are not only strong and light, but also have low elongation and low creep making it a safe alternative to steel wire.

In case of overload and break, the ropes’ low mass and elongation results in the energy being distributed along the rope’s entire length in a linear fashion with a relatively low recoil. Whereas, steel wire is known for lashing out endangering riggers and equipment.

Is Dynamica XBO rotation free?

Yes, Dynamica XBO has a torque-neutral construction which means that “snaking”, bird caging and kinking is not an issue, which is a common problem with steel wire ropes.

Do & don’t

To take full advantage of your Dynamica XBO, do not use it over rusty surfaces and sharp edges as this can lead to cuts, abrasion abuse and splice damages.

To attain long service life while protecting the riggers, ensure all surfaces are in proper condition.

How to cover & protect the XBO rope?

Want longer service life? Protect your rope with a cover!

With a cover Dynamica XBO ropes become even more abrasion resistant. We always recommend getting a cover (braided or woven) in the spliced eyes and on other bearing points. For some operations, we recommend a cover on rope’s entire length.

For Dynamica XBO ropes, it is important to add a cover in the area where it runs over sheaves or drums.

Dynamica XBO ropes are most often overbraided with Dynamica PRO cover.

What to look for while inspecting Dynamica XBO?

Regular inspections ensure a long service life and keep the costs of ownership down. Inspect your Dynamica XBO before every operation looking for the following signs:

  • Rope construction damage

  • Cover damage

  • Abrasion

  • Inconsistent diameter
